Anti Ragging Committee

As per the directions of the Honorable Supreme Court of India, ragging is a criminal offence and is totally banned and anyone found guilty of ragging and or abetting ragging is liable to be severely punished. Ragging is strictly prohibited in all educational institutions.
The Anti-Ragging Cell of  St Thomas College of Engineering & Technology, serves as a dedicated body to ensure a ragging-free, safe, and inclusive environment for students, fostering their holistic growth and well-being.

Objective:

  • Aims to prevent and address incidents of ragging in compliance with AICTE and Kerala Technological University (KTU) regulations.
  • Ensures the enforcement of anti-ragging policies, creating awareness and taking stringent actions against any reported incidents.

Functions of the Cell:

  • Awareness Campaigns
  • Organize seminars, workshops, and awareness programs to educate students about the consequences of ragging.
  • Distribute anti-ragging brochures and posters across the campus.

Monitoring and Vigilance:

  • Maintain constant supervision in sensitive areas like hostels, canteens, and common rooms.
  • Deploy faculty and student volunteers to monitor activities, especially during the beginning of the academic year.

Grievance Addressing

  • Establish a confidential system for students to report ragging incidents.
  • Address complaints promptly and ensure proper counseling and action.

Legal Compliance:

  • Enforce the directives issued by the Supreme Court of India, AICTE, and KTU regarding ragging.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement authorities if necessary.

The cell operates a 24/7 helpline to provide immediate assistance to students in distress.

Code of Conduct

  • Students found guilty of ragging will face disciplinary actions, including suspension or expulsion, as per college rules and legal provisions.
  • The institution upholds zero tolerance for any form of physical or mental harassment.
