St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology (STC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), the largest public-funded university in Malaysia, to promote student and faculty exchange programs and collaborative research initiatives.

The partnership aims to provide students and faculty with international exposure, access to cutting-edge research facilities, and opportunities for cross-cultural learning. The first exchange under this collaboration took place during the 2024-2025 academic year, marking a milestone in fostering global academic and cultural connections.

STC to UiTM: Exploring Excellence in Research and Innovation

From June 16 to 22, 2024, students from St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology (STC) participated in an enriching international exchange program at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia.

The STC delegation included Bestin Jacob, Jyothy Lakshmi, Sudhi P S, Kishor V Gopal, Navaneeth Nalesh C T, and Arjun K M. During their visit, the students explored UiTM’s state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities, delving into advanced technologies and research methodologies. They interacted with UiTM’s esteemed faculty and student community, facilitating a dynamic exchange of innovative ideas and academic insights.

Beyond academics, the students experienced Malaysia’s vibrant culture, building strong international relationships and fostering a deeper understanding of global diversity.

UiTM to STC: A Gateway to Kerala’s Innovation Ecosystem

From November 17 to 23, 2024, students from UiTM visited St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology (STC), India, as part of the second phase of the exchange program.

The UiTM delegation comprised Amirah Hanis binti Azman, Amirul Amri bin Ahmad Nizam, Awangku Muhammad Dzul Hisyam bin Awang Basuandi, Muhamad Ariff Fahmi bin Md Amin Hamzas, Muhamad Zahiruddin bin Razlan, and Norshamimie binti Mohd Nazir.

During their stay, the UiTM students visited premier institutions and organizations such as KSUM (Kerala Startup Mission), TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), KELTRAC (Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited Advanced Training and Research Centre), and STIC (Small Industries Development Corporation Technology Innovation Centre). These visits provided insights into Kerala’s thriving innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

At STC, the UiTM students delivered a seminar on Sustainable Initiatives in Malaysia, showcasing their country’s efforts in sustainability and sparking meaningful discussions on global environmental challenges and solutions.

This exchange program has been a transformative experience for participants, fostering academic growth, cultural understanding, and global collaboration.
