Minority Cell

St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, Kozhuvalloor,Chengannur  is proud to announce the establishment of its Minority Cell, a significant initiative aimed at ensuring a harmonious, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students, especially from minority communities. The formation of this cell marks a crucial step in promoting diversity, social justice, and equal opportunity within the campus.

 

Objectives and Purpose of the Minority Cell:

 

The Minority Cell has been created with the primary objective of:

  • Supporting Minority Students: To provide a safe and inclusive environment for students from minority communities, helping them in overcoming challenges related to academic, social, and cultural integration.
  • Promoting Equal Opportunities: Ensuring that students from minority backgrounds have equal access to educational resources, scholarships, career development programs, and other opportunities.
  • Raising Awareness and Sensitizing the Campus: Organizing awareness campaigns, seminars, and discussions to promote respect for diversity and the rights of minority students.
  • Addressing Grievances: The cell will also act as a platform for addressing grievances related to discrimination or any form of bias, ensuring that students’ concerns are heard and resolved promptly.
  • Cultural and Academic Support: Facilitating cultural and academic initiatives that celebrate the unique identities and traditions of minority communities, while also fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation within the college.

 

Key Functions and Activities:

  • Orientation Programs: Introduction to the college’s environment, available resources, and support systems for minority students.
  • Workshops and Seminars: Conducting educational programs focusing on leadership development, career guidance, and legal rights for minority students.
  • Counselling Services: Providing psychological support and academic counselling to help students from minority backgrounds adjust and thrive in the college environment.
  • Collaboration with Government Schemes: The cell will actively work to ensure that students benefit from various government-sponsored scholarships, welfare programs, and other initiatives meant for minority groups.
