Book Talk
Book talk make listeners familiar with the content of the book they want to read. The book talker gives the audience a glimpse of the setting, the characters and/or the major conflict without providing the resolution or denouncement. The purpose of a book talk is to motivate listeners in order to foster good reading, writing and speaking skills by encouraging self-directed learning through reading. It is an excellent tool for reading motivation. We have conducted a Book talk this year on 21st April, 2023.




Book Exhibition
We have organized a book exhibition from 20th June to 23rd June, 2023 of local and national publishers and book sellers in connection with the national Reading week celebrations, besides our teachers and students, those from nearby schools and colleges visited the exhibition and purchased books of their interest. Book exhibitions have also been organized by inviting standing vendors and publishers to the college where students and faculty select books of their interest at discount rates approved by the library committee.




Orientation Classes
Orientation classes are given to students during each academic sessions. The program Intends to encourage and motivate students to the use of the resources of the library to the maximum and their by meeting the libraries goal as an exceptional and accessible centre of learning and creativity. An introduction to the library rules and regulations were given. A detailed class was taken on different types of resources and services provide by the library. Effective and efficient use of the library resources and services has been ensures by the orientation programme.




Quiz Competitions
Information is the fact or condition of being aware of something with familiarity gained through experience or association. The assessment of that informative knowledge is the quiz competitions. Quiz competitions are always interesting and informative, which provide excitement among the Students. The STCET Central Library conducted a Quiz Competition on the occasion of Library Week 2024 on March 15th & 25th. The preliminary round of competition was held in the central library at 2 pm on 15/3/2024. 20 students were selected for the final round of competition. The final round was on 25/3/2024. The Quiz was unique in itself because it was conducted with different levels of rounds. The Quiz had five rounds. Rules and regulations of the quiz were explained at the beginning. Five- round competition includes Objective, Direct answer and audio-visual round, which engaged the students for one and half hour. 42 students participated in the first round as written exam mode. It was very informative and knowledge enriching competition for the participants and also gives better experience to the participants. The Principal distributed prizes for the winners on the occasion of College Tech Fest 2024.
The 1 and 2nd places were won by the group of Muhammed Suhail & Nithin K. Praveena S & Gopika Gopi respectively.

English Essay Competition
The STCET Library conducted English Essay Competition on Friday 15th March 2024 as a part of Library week. The topic was “changing horizon on the modern era”. 16 students participated out of those the top 3 were announced as winners. Albee C John (S8- CSE) won the first prize and Bibin M Binu (S6 EEE) won the 2nd prize. The principal distributed their prizes.



PPT Presentation Competiton
The STCET Library conducted PPT Presentation Competition on Friday 15th March 2023. 4 team of students participated, Team Gopika Gopi & Stella Mary Binil (S8- EEE) won the first prize and team Nandan R Ajay & Aswin Anil Kumar (S6- Al) won the 2nd prize. The principal distributed their prizes on the occasion of College Tech fest 2024.



Malayalam Essay Competition
The STCET Library conducted a Malayalam Essay Competition on 15/3/2024 as a part of library week 2024. The topic was” Valarunna Sankethikavidhya. 24 students participated, out of those Blesseon Mathew (S2- AE) was selected as winner in first position Vrinda T Vinod (S2 CSE) in second. The principal given the prizes to the winners.


Reading Week Celebration
St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, Chengannur, celebrated a successful Reading Week from June 19-26, 2024. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ajith Prabhu, Principal of STCET, Chengannur, at Shalom UPS Venmony. To foster a competitive spirit, quiz competitions were conducted at Chatthiara VHSE and HSS Padanilam. The week-long literary journey concluded with a closing ceremony presided over by college secretary Jose Thomas. The event featured insightful addresses by Dr. Ranish (Head of Agriculture Department), Assistant Professors Ratheesh Ravindran and Shinu. V James, Praveen P Mathew (PRO), Amrutha B Nair (Librarian), and Stella Marie Benil (Student Representative), making it a comprehensive and inspiring experience for the college community.

Library Extension Activities
Library has under taken a project VAYANAKALARI for inculcating reading habit among children. Library extension program inculcating reading habit among the inheritance in children’s home Nooranad. Children’s home is a child correctional institution that aims at the ultimate welfare of children who are in need of care and protection under the juvenile justice act.
Our Project
Inculcating reading habit by providing interesting story books having moral values and motivational thoughts.



Suggestion Box
We have provided a Suggestion Box within the library. A suggestion box is a device where library users anonymously deposit slips of paper containing advice or different opinions. The box may also contain additional comments, questions and requests. One of the benefits of a suggestion box is that it creates a line of communication between the library and its users. We have responded timely to the suggestions.
Best User Award
We give off the best user award to each class for the students and faculty who have made maximum use of the library. The Best Library User Award is an initiative towards motivating the students to efficiently peruse the library and its resources. Based on statistical data, books borrowed, reading aptitude, utilization of library resources, and discipline. The recipients of the best user award for the academic year 2023-2024 are.
