Electrical Club
The Electrical Club in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a dynamic student-led organization dedicated to fostering a passion for Electrical engineering and enhancing practical skills beyond the classroom. The club aims to provide a collaborative platform for students to explore, innovate, and engage with various aspects of Electrical and Electronics engineering.
The club encourage students to participate in competitions, hackathons, and project exhibitions to showcase their innovative ideas and facilitate guest lectures and webinars with industry experts to bridge the gap between academia and industry, providing insights into current trends and future opportunities. Creating opportunities for students to connect with peers, faculty, and professionals, fostering a strong community within the electrical engineering discipline.
Regularly conduct sessions on emerging technologies and essential skills, such as programming microcontrollers, PCB design, and IoT applications. Host events like circuit design contests, robotics competitions, and visit to the substation to challenge students and stimulate creative problem-solving.
Encourage students to work on collaborative projects, providing mentorship and resources to bring their ideas to life. Organize trips to power plants, manufacturing units, and tech companies to give students real-world exposure to electrical engineering applications.
Invite industry professionals and alumni to share their experiences and knowledge, offering students a glimpse into potential career paths and advancements in the field. Successfully hosted multiple workshops on LED manufacturing, drawing participation from a wide range of students.
Facilitated industrial visits to prominent companies, providing students with invaluable insights into professional practices. Expand the scope of workshops to include advanced topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning in electrical engineering, and smart grid. Develop a mentorship program connecting seniors with juniors to guide them through their academic and professional journeys.
The Electrical Club is committed to empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to excel in the field of electrical and electronics engineering, making significant contributions to both their academic growth and professional development.
Substation Visit
Edappon 220kv Substation Visit
An Industrial visit to Edappon 220kV substation was planned by Electrical Club of St.Thomas College of Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Department on February 2024. The permission of the substation visit was sanctioned by the Deputy Chief Engineer Alappuzha on 28-02-2024, Wednesday. All of our S4, S6 & S8 students and all Faculty members from EEE Department have started from the college at 9.30am and reached the substation at 10.00am. All the students were split into 3 groups and each groups were guided by each sub Engineers. Then the onsite visit were headed by these group leaders and they had explained everything thoroughly.
Led Workshop
LED Manufacturing Workshop was conducted by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering under the supervision of Electrical Club of St.Thomas College of Engineering and Technology on April 17, 2024. The session was handled by P.S.Amin Muhammed od S8 EEE and around 150 students were participated in that program. The aim of the session was to give basic idea about different types of LED lamps, different parts of LED bulbs and assembling of different parts.
