World Water Day 2024

In connection to the World Water Day 2024, the Institution of Engineers (India) STCET Students Chapter (689521/STCO/CV) had organised an expert talk and a debate to create awareness on the importance of water resources, conservation and the present scenario of water scarcity. The session was organised by the student members of IEI Student Chapter from Dept of Civil Engineering, under the co-ordination of Prof Joan Mary Jojo, Dept of Civil Engineering. It began with the Welcome Address by Dr Suresh P S, the Head of Civil Engineering Department, STCET, followed by the formal inauguration by Dr G Venugopal, Principal-in-charge, STCET
The participants of the session included faculties and students of Departments of Civil Engineering and Agriculture Engineering, STCET. The expert talk was on the “Impact of Climate Change in Water Resources”, given by Dr Raneesh K Y, Professor and Head of the Department of Agriculture, STCET. A debate on “Water Scarcity in Future” was conducted between the students of both Civil and Agriculture Department, under the moderation of Prof. Vishnu K, Department of Civil Engineering, STCET. Students of Civil Engineering spoke for the cause, while Agriculture Engineering students spoke against. The debate was concluded with both the teams scoring equal points. A pledge to conserve water was also made by all the participating students and faculties. Thesseion concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Joan Mary Jojo.
