ASTROZ

Association St. Thomas Researchers in Ones and Zeros, ASTROZ is the association of students, with the guidance of facultis in Department of Computer Science & Engineering. It provides a platform for all CSE members to practice engineering knowledge and apply their professional fields of studies to accomplish a society and upgrade knowledge.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering of St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology conducted a one-day workshop on python web design and development using Django for Fourth Year Computer Science Students on 5 th October 2023 (Thursday). The welcome address was given by Dr. Shyjith M B, the HOD of Department of Computer Science Engineering. He gave a brief explanation about the need and importance of python and Web development in today’s context. The workshop, led by a team from G TEC Computer Education, Pandalam, commenced with an introduction by Mr. Sujith Kumar provided a concise overview of Python and emphasized its significance in web design. The initial session focused on introducing fundamental Python concepts, offering simple programs for hands-on practice, and exploring practical applications.

CSI

Computer Society of India (CSI) is the first and largest body of computer professionals in India. It was started on 6 March 1965 by a few computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body representing computer professionals. It has 72 chapters across India, 511 student branches, and 100,000 members.
The Computer Society of India (CSI) College Chapter of St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, Chengannur established in April 2013 (Membership ID – I01870) and Student chapter started in the year 2020. It is an active student organization which organizes technical activities including workshops, technical symposiums, Tech Talks etc. for its student members. Under the guidance of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the student chapter has over 80 members, and is run by a STC-CSI Student Council, and faculty from the department.

The CSI Club of STC organized a webinar on “Knowing Your IT Industry,” featuring Jerin K John as the main speaker, which saw active participation from students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) The event commenced with a warm welcome speech by Nourin Fathima. A, of S6 CSE (AI&ML), setting the tone for an insightful session ahead. Dr. Shyjith. M. B, Hod Department of Computer Science and Engineering, delivered the presidential address, underscoring the importance of such knowledge-sharing initiatives in shaping the future IT professionals.
